Franzia & All-Nighters

Back to school doesn’t only bring back friends, parties and tailgates; it also throws all-nighters, group projects and 8 chapter tests your way. Sometimes it seems like you have 1 week that happens to have 8 meetings, 4 papers, 3 tests and of course 1 huge mental breakdown. Weeks like this are sparse, but do happen.

In order to avoid slapping your group partner, calling home to talk to mom, or crying alone in a dark/empty sorority chapter room I’ve done that, here are some tricks to put your mind at ease.

  • Regular Breaks. So you have a paper, two tests, and a project due at the end of the week. You barely have enough time to shower and eat. Sleeping has been out of the question for days, and you refuse to give yourself a break because you’re “wasting time”. WRONG. Put everything down, turn off your crackberry/iwhore iphone and relax. Turn on some bad reality TV (Real Housewives) for 30 minutes, and be grateful your face isn’t filled with Botox (yet).
  • Sleep. I know it’s tempting to pull an all-nighter right before the big test, however it won’t do you any good when you start drooling on the scantron. Get a good night’s sleep, aka at least 5 hours. If you have to pull that all-nighter at least invest in some eye drops. No wants to look at your demon eyes.
  • Workout. Nothing gets those happy hormones up like sweating (at least nothing legal). So throw on some hot workout clothes and do a workout video. Or you can just watch it in your exercise clothes, I don’t judge.

  • Comfort Food. Yes, this point totally negates the one above, but when you just can’t seem to make yourself feel better, go stuff your face. Eat some mac n’ cheese, chocolate, mashed potatoes, and more chocolate..whatever, just go eat.
  • When All Else Fails Drink. Don’t let anyone trick you into thinking that adult beverages were made for socializing. That is just wrong. Alcohol was made so that students could/can continue to function in a highly competitive and life sucking community we call college. Go grab that NattyLight, or perhaps Franzia if you are feeling extra classy, and have yourself a good cry. Then please go out; crying and drinking alone in one night might be too much to handle.

Oh Ireland..I miss being legal.

    I’m stressed at the moment and I’ve been combatting it with workouts, but I might have to switch to chocolate soon 😉
